Wintershall presents new Website for German activities Information portal for domestic crude oil and natural gas production / Up-to-date, transparent and technically state-of-the-art

Kassel/Barnstorf. Wintershall’s crude oil and natural gas activities in Germany are now being presented with a new, dedicated Internet presence. Multimedial and enabling full mobile use, the new Website meets the growing need for information in Germany and, in particular, in the domestic production regions. The new German Website is principally aimed at supporting the communication measures relating to the German oil and gas production regions.

The Website intends to keep neighbours, the media, politicians and anyone interested up-to-date about current topics and projects. “Our nodding horse-head pumps have reliably supplied us with domestic energy for decades. And we want to inform all the citizens about our activities in Germany just as reliably,” explains Andreas Scheck, Head of Wintershall Deutschland.

The online service offers exciting insights into the world of crude oil and natural gas – with a focus on the domestic production that Wintershall has been carrying out for more than 80 years. Current projects are presented with many illustrative images and graphics as well as information films. “This enables us to create considerable transparency with our projects and to explain complex technologies in a simple and understandable way,” says Andreas Scheck. “We want to provide information that is not just comprehensive but also always up-to-date and, with the new online presence, we’re offering a platform that provides reliable information around the clock.”

Optimal depiction on smartphones and tablets

Using an interactive map, users gain an overview of the production sites and concessions where Wintershall is active, whereby specific project pages provide detailed insights and also explain the environmental protection and safety standards in a concrete and clear manner. The expansion of its longstanding crude oil and natural gas production is a key priority for Wintershall in Germany. That is why the company is opening its virtual doors and is presenting those interested and prospective employees with possible career paths. Particularly interesting is that former trainees present their careers in person.

“In developing the new Website, the focus was on the users,” explains Stefan Leunig, Head of External Communications: “On the one hand the content is concise, informative and up-to-date, and on the other hand the new Website can also be excellently used when underway.” The Responsive Design function enables the design and content to automatically adapt to a diverse range of mobile devices. “For example, anyone travelling past one of Wintershall’s horse-head pumps can immediately obtain further clearly presented information via their smartphones. It is effectively just a click away,” emphasises Leunig.

Wintershall also offers further information on its domestic oil and gas activities via the German social media channels Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The Hamburg online agency, Paints Multimedia, designed and conceived the Website, which replaces the previous Blog at
