Vibro truck Generating sound waves to find oil and gas

Vibro trucks trigger the sound waves necessary for a seismic survey. The vehicles, which are about ten meters long, weigh up to 13 tons and have a maximum speed of about 25 km/h despite having a PS of 550. The vibro trucks have a hydraulically powered vibrating plate which they can lower on to the ground. This plate vibrates up to 250 times a second over a short time. The vibration generated is comparable with that of a truck driving by slowly. With frequencies of between about ten hertz and 100 hertz, the sound waves generated cannot be heard by the human ear and are called “seismic waves”.
