Cable-free seismic Searching for oil and gas made easier
The wireless seismic surveys simplify the seismic campaigns significantly. Thanks to this technology, it is no longer necessary to lay long cables for the geophone measurements. This solution is both simple and innovative. Wintershall uses a technology that has long since become part of daily life: Wi-Fi.
The geophone receives the sound waves from underground and is connected to a data storage device. All the signals are stored in the device and then sent to the measurement vehicles by Wi-Fi. This means the long cables previously necessary are no longer required – which is a big advantage, especially in places where it will be possible to cross roads and rail tracks effortlessly in future. Wintershall tested this solution for the first time in 2014 in Bockstedt, Lower Saxony, and now plans to deploy it in other projects
