"When I see my colleagues smiling after their meal, that inspires me to cook well," says Alexander Larsen. The 30-year-old is one of the cooks on Wintershall’s Brage production platform in the North Sea off Norway. He cooks hundreds of different dishes for the team on board over a fortnight. The Brage platform is located far away from his home, in the North Sea 130 kilometers off the coast of Norway. Eating together is very important offshore. Alexander has been cooking since he was 16. "I’ve never wanted to do anything else. Cooking is my passion," he adds. He has gathered experience in Norway and abroad, in Brazil and Italy amongst other countries. His cooking idol: the celebrity British three-star chef Heston Blumenthal. Alexander Larssen has now been cooking offshore for four years. At home, Alexander and his girlfriend Vanessa take turns in the kitchen. His favorite dish: Norwegian haddock.
