Development plan for Wintershall owned Luno field submitted today Lundin Norway AS as operator with partners Wintershall Norge ASA and RWE-DEA Norge AS have today submitted the plan for development and operation (PDO) for the Luno field to the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.

The Luno oil field with an expected gross peak production of approximately 90,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) is situated in PL 338 in the Norwegian North Sea. First oil is anticipated in 2015. “Luno represents one of the key investments of Wintershall Norge for reaching our production target of 50,000 barrels per day during 2015”, says Bernd Schrimpf, Managing Director of Wintershall Norge. Together with its partners, Wintershall plans to invest approximately 24 BNOK in the platform, pipelines and production wells. “Our team now continues to work in full speed at the project execution. We look forward to providing further updates on the progress over the coming period”, announces Bernd Schrimpf.

The Luno PDO comprises fifteen wells drilled from a jack-up rig, a processing platform on a jacket structure and export pipelines tied back to the existing infrastructure. As described in the PDO, Luno contains 183 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) in gross proved and probable reserves that will be produced over a 20 years time span. The Luno partnership is in ongoing negotiations with the Draupne partners in relation to a coordinated development solution for the Luno and Draupne field and an agreement is expected to be concluded shortly. The Draupne development is situated 10 kilometers to the northwest of the Luno field. Partly processed oil and gas will be transported from the Draupne field (operator Det norske) to the Luno platform for stabilization and export of oil and gas.

Wintershall holds 30% working interest in the Luno field. The operator Lundin Petroleum has a 50% working interest and RWE-DEA holds 20%.
