- Minus 25, minus 30, minus 35 degrees. The only place temperatures are currently falling more quickly than in Europe is in Siberia. Yet while here in Germany, every fall in temperature brings worried looks at the thermometer, in Novy Urengoy minus temperatures are daily life. Leopoldi Spinelli and his colleagues merely shrug their shoulders at the cold temperatures: "Nothing unusual here, near the Arctic Circle." http://bit.ly/zI1pPn

- It's staying cold outside. Our colleagues from BASF want to find out this morning who of our Facebook Users has got the coolest or highest temperatures. Who wants to share their temperatures with us?

[PSK] Brrrr... When I sent my kids to school this morning it was -5°C outside. Having a last look at our oven before I left to work, I thought of this global community here on Facebook. Some of you for sure have it nice and warm outside while others are struggling with temperatures even worse. How is it at your place? Let me know how warm or cold it is and let's see who has the highest/lowest temperature.

- It is cold in Germany. And the next few nights are supposed to be the coldest of the year. Minus 17 degrees are expected. In Novy Urengoy temperatures are approaching the 30 degree mark. But this doesn’t put off the Wintershall staff: They produce natural gas in Siberia near the Arctic Circle and production is currently in full swing. http://bit.ly/Ayka6N

- Wintershall today spudded the Maria appraisal well in the Norwegian Sea. The discovery, which is estimated to contain between 60 and 120 million barrels of recoverable oil and between 2 and 5 billion standard cubic meters (sm3) of recoverable gas, is one of the significant oil discoveries in Norway in recent years and is situated around 200 kilometers off the coast of Trondheim. http://bit.ly/zaJCKd

- We like! Wintershall is still one of the Norwegian petroleum industry’s most attractive workplaces. The operating company Wintershall Norge moved to Stavanger in 2009. Last year the company was recognised as the petroleum industry’s third most attractive company to work in. http://bit.ly/wZEe4w

- Life without oil? Impossible! Within our lives oil is used almost everywhere: 40 percent of all textiles contain oil; for functional clothing this may be as much as 100 percent. Oil is within our leisure activities: 40 billion liters of oil a year are used to make CDs and DVDs. And oil helps us relax: A single sofa contains 60 liters of oil.
