Activities on the well site at the outskirts of the township of Kirchdorf are at full speed. Here, at the district of Diepholz in Lower Saxony, BASF’s subsidiary Wintershall is searching for natural gas. The exploration well Kirchdorf Z1 is to confirm previous seismic tests and prove gas-bearing structures in depths of 3,300 to 3,750 meters. Wintershall is drilling on behalf of "Dümmersee-Uchte" – a consortium involving ExxonMobil Production Deutschland GmbH (50 % share), Gaz de France Produktion Exploration Deutschland GmbH (25%) and Wintershall (25%).
