Work & Life Service
At Wintershall, our employees are our most important resource with each individual making a significant contribution to our company's overall success. To ensure our employees are well suported in their professional endeavors, we give our employees proactive support in balancing their professional and private interests. Within our Work & Life Service and Competence Center, we provide expert advice and practical support in all matters affecting the balance of work, life, family, and health.
Taking the doubt out of parental leave
For employees who are planning to start a family we do everything possible to give them the freedom to do so. This includes flexible working time arrangements during and after the parental leave period, e.g., a gradual increase in working hours, job sharing or working from home. In addition, we offer advice and in some cases practical help in finding a suitable childcare solution. While spending time at home, our “buddy system” keeps parents abreast of significant developments in the company and makes it easier for them to return to work afterwards.
Children are in good hands
The company’s own childcare facility cares for children of all ages and offers greater flexibility than found at standard kindergartens. Less than 400 meters from the Kassel Head Office, our employees have access to an all-day, reliable and friendly childcare facility for their children aged from six months to 10 years. Furthermore, the facility can be used by the employee’s children even when they are on business trips. Additionally early development support at the Barnstorf location is provided by the “Die kleinen Strolche” kindergarten, offering employees childcare places for children aged between two and six years.
Award-winning family focus
A number of awards clearly show that our efforts are producing positive results. In 2005, we were awarded by the German government for family-focused HR policies, in which we were ranked among the top ten “major companies” of the nationwide competition. Also in 2005, we received the German Personnel Management Prize from the “Personalwirtschaft” magazine.
A good sport: fitness program included
Preventive healthcare is part of the Work & Life Service. Our range of sports offers something for nearly everyone: tennis, table tennis, soccer, rowing, volleyball, and basketball are complemented by fitness and health programs such as yoga and back strengthening classes. What’s more, and even on weekends employees and their life partners can use the modern cardio exercise equipment in the company’s own gym. In the summer months, outdoor programs such as nordic-walking, jogging, and mountain biking are a popular additions to the recreational sports program.
Just arrive: relocation service for new colleagues
Kassel is the home of our company’s Head Office and is a city with a high quality of life. Dynamic and modern, yet still quiet and cozy the city proves instantly appealing to new employees from around the world. With the assistance of a partner company we offer practical support for new employees in their new surroundings. Not only do we help them find a suitable apartment or dream home, we also offer guidance for day-to-day matters and may even, within reason, assist in official errands.
Household services
We make sure our employees have time for the important things in life. By providing household services, such as a laundry and ironing services, we allow our employees to spend more time with their families. Under this arrangement, a local laundry firm collects the laundry from work and returns it washed and ironed. In addition, our Work & Life Service provides hands-on assistance, e.g., in looking for household and shopping help, cleaners, and even babysitters.
