Compliance
Compliance means for us to abide by laws and internal corporate directives. Our Compliance Program’s goal is to embed our value Integrity even stronger. With the appointment of a Chief Compliance Officer in 2003, BASF was the first German major company to create such a position. He is responsible for managing the continuous progress of the program and also oversees a network of regional compliance coordinators, for example Wintershall.
Through the Compliance Program, BASF and Wintershall show their engagement to set up their Values and Principles. Any statutory violation by employees will not be tolerated as the have a negative impact on the company’s reputation and confidence for stakeholders. In ongoing specific training programs employees learn to apply the Code of Conduct in day-to-day business. In nearly all countries where BASF is located a telephone hotline provides another means of assistance besides contacting superiors or a worker’s representative if there are uncertainties concerning the behavior of oneself or others.
