Christmas greetings – made by childrenBack in June, employees’ children from all Wintershall sites were invited to enter a painting competition “My best experience”.
(Kassel, November 2011)For eleven-year-old Theresa, certain brands are really important: Sprite, McDonalds – and WINGAS. These names are emblazoned around the edges of the ice rink immortalized in her picture. Theresa is one of over 130 entrants in the Grand Wintershall Christmas Card Competition for employees’ children. Their pictures are now on display in the Art Zone of the headquarters building.
The response came from all over the world. “We had imaginative and colourful entries from Germany, Argentina, Russia, Norway, the UK and the Netherlands. Even in Qatar and Libya, a child put pencil to paper and sent us a picture”, an employee explained.
Nine of the pictures now adorn the new Christmas greetings cards, which are being sent to customers and business associates throughout the world. There are penguins in the snow, two camels in the Sahara and also a picture of Father Christmas putting presents under the tree.

“I will certainly be picking up some of this year’s Christmas cards, as the children’s pictures are wonderful”, said Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors Rainer Seele at the opening of the exhibition, entitled “Gallery of great little artists.”

Even though not all pictures could be printed, Seele made one thing clear: “The children did not make it easy for the judges. They are all winners.” Reflecting on the great popularity of the competition, Seele emphasized that children will continue to be of great importance in the company. The second Wintershall nursery is expected to open in Kassel in the coming year.
Representing the many entrants were 40 children from the Wintershall child-care facility, “KiWi.” This is why Capri-Sun was served at the opening of the exhibition, instead of champagne.
