The aim of Wintershall Holding GmbH´s Work & Life Service is to help employees to balance their professional, family and private interests with the needs of the company. In July 2001, service centers were set up at the company’s Kassel and Barnstorf sites.
The centers focus on the following areas:
• Balancing family and professional life
• School
• Organizing work time
• Household services
• Company sport/health & fitness

The Work & Life Service offers parents-to-be comprehensive information on current legislation, e.g. maternity/parental leave and child benefit as well as internal company agreements and how they apply within the organization.
An important part of its work involves implementing flexible working schemes, e.g. part-time work, teleworking and job sharing. The service also helps employees with school-age children to select a suitable school in the Kassel area and offers a babysitter pool. If employees are required to spend the night or weekend away from home on business, the service helps them to organize and coordinate child care.

The KIWI children’s day-care center is another service provided by the company. Situated in close proximity to the company headquarters in Kassel, it has offered day-care services for employees’ children since it opened in August 2001.
The center is open to children aged between six months and 12 years. It provides full-day care from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. The children are split into a crèche group and two mixed-age groups and are looked after by experienced nursery staff.
Working together with an external partner (Gesellschaft für Kinderbetreuung und Schule e.V. – GFKS), the KIWI provides a flexible care program which can be individually adapted to suit people’s needs.
The company helps its employees to manage their time by providing household services such as a cleaning and ironing service. It also works together with agencies which arrange home helps.

A range of company sports activities as well as the BEFIT @ WORK program which aims to improve workers’ health and endurance are also on offer.
For many years, Wintershall has offered its staff a variety of sport groups such as football, rowing, volleyball and basketball. It also has its own internal fitness and health program with courses to suit everyone. The course plan contains the perfect course for everyone.
The courses focus on a range of areas including relaxation, muscle building or general fitness. Endurance equipment which is also available for use at weekends provides another way of keeping fit and unwinding after a day at work.
